CAD Services

CAD Services is the longest established product Whiley Services has on offer.

This product is provided to all industry sectors as well as forming a vital part of our Asset Information Management service.

Where we believe that we are better than others, is that our CAD Engineers are knowledgeable about the products that they are drawing.

We like to work closely with our customers, promoting an open culture to ensure we get your drawings right.

The Fire Safety industry is one of the biggest sectors that we provide drawings to and this includes those required within Secure Information Boxes. These are fully compliant with the Code of Practice that has been jointly released by the FIA and NFCC.

Emergency Response Pack Drawings

The content of your Emergency Response Pack will be determined by the Risk Assessment you carry out for the premises and work you undertake within them.

All Emergency Response Packs will however, require information to be provided to the Fire and Rescue Services as part of the fire safety element of your Emergency Plan. The Fire and Rescue Services like to have information presented to them in an easy and understandable format, which includes drawings.

The Code of Practice produced by the FIA and NFCC in support of The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, gives guidance on the way drawings should be presented. Although these regulations do not apply to all premises, the standards for the drawings are not specific to high rise building and can be used in all areas. This make perfect sense when you consider that this information is provided to the same Fire and Rescue Services that attend to all emergencies.

The key word in the Code of Practice when referring to drawings is “Simple” and it goes on to say that detailed Architectural Drawings are not suitable due to their complexity.

However, where the situation requires a detailed drawing, it should be added as supporting information, with a reference in the simple drawings at the location where it applies.

Some written information contained within the Emergency Response Pack may also need to to be detailed but it should only be reflected in the most simplistic way on the drawings. For example, there may be a specific shutdown procedure required for a piece of equipment that could result in a dangerous situation arising if done incorrectly. This should be represented in the drawings by a hazard icon with supporting  text, making reference to the requirement of a correct shutdown procedure and where to find it.

Whiley Services Limited produces drawings that are compliant with the Cope of Practice but where things do get complicated, we also work with the local fire authorities to ensure the information is presented in the way they need it. However, we recommend that all of the drawings we produce, along with all Emergency Response Pack information, is approved by the local fire authorities.

Speed is of the essence in an emergency, so it is imperative to have the information presented in the way that works best to those with the overall responsibility for managing it. (If this is not the local fire authorities then the information may need to be presented in a different way).
